Submitted to Associate Dean Helen Scott
This was an effective and worthwhile workshop. Sam did an excellent job of providing both direction and opportunities for free-form discussion. As a result, we had the sense that we were moving ahead--addressing a number of important issues and making progress on them while still exploring a variety of pertinent tangents. A nice balance of the stern taskmaster and the indulgent parent.
I found the small group and informal discussions to be very useful at identifying concerns that could be brought into a broader discussion with the larger group. I left the workshop feeling that I'd learned a considerable amount about hypertext/hypermedia, wanting to get the text from which the readings were drawn (Landow) and read the other chapters, and willing to give serious thought to the incorporation of this technology in my classes. In fact, I will discuss my idea of a hypermedia component for all of our introductory studio courses with my colleagues at our first staff meeting this year. This is a project that I would like to take to our new multi- media person as soon as he or she is hired.
In spite of the distractions the move into the new facilities created, I found this workshop to be an important experience, and I'm glad I made time for it.
Tony
