Making a Match

[Taken from Maslanka: 30 with modifications by Stephanie Wilcox.]

A Grinnell Student was desperately trying to quit smoking. Instead of beating up her Friends every time she wanted a cigarette, she decided to try a displacement activity-she plays with matches.

With 12 matches how can she arrange them on the tabletop to make 5 squares? The matches must not overlap and they cannot be broken.

Can you make 6 squares?
