Hypermedia: Some Technology, Some Implications (Fall 1999)

The Incomplete Idea

Described and linked by Sam Rebelsky.

While many faculty are tempted to ``tie up'' all the ideas from a class by the end of the class, others feel it best to leave some things dangling. Some claim that there is research that shows that students remember less when the class ends neatly, because they remember only the neat ending, and not all the important messiness that led up to it. By leaving ideas incomplete, students need to think more and remember more for the next class, and therefore master more of the core parts.
